Gucci is one of the most famous Italian high fashion brands in the world, and its watches and jewelry fully reflect the tradition of style and originality of which the company founded in Florence by Guccio Gucci in 1921 has always been the standard bearer. In 1921 Guccio Gucci founded in Florence the company of the same name for the production of leather goods, gloves and luggage. In 1923, the first brand of the fashion house only bore the name of the founder in its calligraphic character, probably derived from its ending.
In 1960 Aldo Gucci, one of Guccio’s three children, designed the symbol with the two crossed “G’s”, a clear reference to the founder’s initials; this graphic sign, which had not yet become the company’s trademark, was re-proposed in different shapes, that is, cast in a circle, opposed, inverted and in an abstract form.
Then in 1971 the logotype will be composed with a graceful character while only in 1992, under the artistic direction of Alessandro Michele, will officially appear in the corporate brand symbol of the double “G”, until then used only as a brand name on bags, shoes and belts. From 1998 the official communication will be entrusted only to the logotype composed with gracious character lapidary, very spacious, it is with this brand that the company presents itself in the world as a distinctive expression of “made in Italy”.
In 2019, the new Gucci monogram embellishes accessories such as jewelry and bags; it presents the two G’s, both superimposed and facing right.
