German designer Constantin Wortmann’s new work in 2010 extends from the Cobra candlestick series created for Georg Jensen in 2008, conceiving a pair of candlesticks with the vase concept.
The design of Cobra is exactly the performance of Wortmann’s inversion of the visual point of view, “I imagine the familiar shape of traditional candlesticks as vivid curves”. Cobra.
Born in Germany in 1970, he graduated in design from the University of Munich in 1999. During this time he participated in many of Ingo Maurer’s design projects as an intern. In 1998, he and Benjamin Hopf jointly founded the design studio Buro fur Form, specialising in interior design, furniture design, lighting design and other areas. He was nominated for the IF Design Award 2001, the German Design Plus 2005, the IF Design Award and the Bundespreis Produktdesign 2006 in Frankfurt, Germany.
